Did Obamas people have Myspace remove my Landmine ban protest picture?

A few weeks ago I uploaded the picture below in protest at Obama’s lack of supporting the international land mine ban and I posted a comment on his myspace page saying as much with the picture embedded in it.
Land mine protest pic
The next day I get the message from myspace that: “We had to remove an image (or images) from your account because they violated our Terms of Use. Our site is for people as young as 13, so we can’t have certain kinds of pics (nude/sexually explicit, violence). Find out more about content we don’t allow at http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=misc.terms. If you continue to violate our Terms, we may be forced to remove your account.

If you find an image which you feel is in violation of our Terms, please feel free to use the ‘report image’ link below the image.
Thanks for your understanding.
MySpace Safety & Security”

Now clearly the photograph is real and upsetting, but come on any 13 year old should be able to see that. Especially compared to the photo’s up on many other profiles that are sexual or violent. Simply put the Obama page is the only one to have the pic posted on it (pending their approval of my comment) and now it is removed from my photos in my main profile by Myspace. There is something about this that stinks.

Of course I don’t know exactly what happens but it is very suspicious indeed and if Obama’s Myspace team are going to these lengths to silence protest on such an important issue then I am disgusted. Though one little irony is that if Myspace are supporting them in doing this is that Myspace is owned by Rupert Murdoch owner of Fox News.

Anyway Obama’s position on not supporting the land mine bad is unacceptable. Most of the world’s nations have signed up and the ban is designed to save lives. Thirty-seven states, including the People’s Republic of China, Cuba, Egypt, Finland, India, Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Syria and the United States, are not party to the Convention (is that the kind of company the USA wants to keep on this?). I can no longer offer Obama my support until this position is changed. And I would like to see more people joining this campaign. Of course it was fashionable in the day Princess Diana was the spokesman for the campaign on the ban. But those days are long gone.

Forward this on to as many people as possible as we cannot tolerate this kind of political censorship. Some people need to read the first amendment.

Assault Rifle Carriers at Obama Rally CNN report

This is not crazy that people can freely carry assault weapons in the USA. This is bad enough but in the close vicinity with firearms to the President?

In 1975 Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme went to prison for attempting to fire a pistol with no bullet in the chamber a President Ford in California. She spent 25 years in jail. But if that was in Arizona and the fact she did not discharge the weapon would that have been deemed acceptable if the weapon had not been concealed? Do people not think this is insane and a gross abuse of the law apart from anything else?

I saw a short documentary last night about a gun range in a state with loose gun laws when tens of thousands of people turn up to a gun festival to fire anything up to a tank and flamethrowers etc and is a celebration of lets blow the hell out of something. When I see things like that I can understand how enough of the US population can find was acceptable enough that you end up with the situation where the US military have killed more foreign nationals than any nation since the second world war even though no nation has attacked US soil. This gun toting behavior is not normal and society should be strong enough to say no to this behavior.

Also it is a very crude way that Obama protesters can divert news attention away from the support being offered the president and healthcare reform at the event and makes everyone talk about this issue as well as the Obama opposition.

Here’s a simple truth. Gun control works. In Scotland 14 years ago a man with legal pistols went into a school and murdered young school kids. For the UK a very rare instance to begin with. From then all firearms were banned other than shotguns as farmers use them mainly. Since then we have had no such incident. You get the occasional gun related shooting between gangs but that is so low that other than some mobile armed police units our police still don’t have to carry guns. No-one fears gun totting criminals breaking into our houses in the UK. That’s so rare you’re better off fearing the bogeyman.

Obama: Police who arrested professor ‘acted stupidly’

Every time an incident like this happens the cops in question should be investigated in every last detail in their conduct and if as dubious as it looks then they should have their past cases investigated immediately after they are kicked out the door. The repercussions throughout society of racism in the police force is so great that we cannot and must not keep washing over these incidents as one day it is a stupid arrest and another day it could be someone being shot for having a wallet mistaken for a gun.

I find it so interesting to hear the line coming out of the Republican Party and beyond about Obama not speaking out enough in support of the protesters in Iran. John McCain himself was very vocal about this point. It is this naive thinking that has led to the USA screwing up so much of the world as they avoid empathizing with those in the other countries. What Obama is doing is just about perfect. The USA needs to keep quiet through this time.

The more the US supports the demonstrators the more they empower the Iranian administration to clamp down on those protesters and will give them more support from the population who do not support the protests as they shall see the USA as trying to stir up a new revolution. The more internal the demontrations are the more likely the military are to not support a violent clamp down.

When John McCain opened his mouth on this issue it showed his stupidity and make me so grateful he lost. If he describes himself as a student of history he deserves an F. US interferrance has ALWAYS inflamed a situation not helped. Reagan saying “Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall” did not lead to the tearing down the Berlin Wall it was just political bluster as Gorbachev was already of the mind to bring on all this change. These opportunist politicians need to grow up as peoples lives are at stake.
